Kathmandu to Pokhara.
After a packed day in Kathmandu, visiting the sites and soaking up the atmosphere of this bustling and historic city, you set of for Pokhara the gateway to Nepals most popular treks. The drive gives an insight into the rugged terrain, passing out of the Kathmandu Valley, winding up steep hill sides, across high ridges, and following down the flanks of river valleys, finishing the day at the resort area of Lakeside nestling beside the shores of Phewa Lake, with the full majestic vista of the Annapurna range as a backdrop.

Diversity of Wildlife and Flora.
A short ride to the start of the trek at Phedi, and we set of into the Sanctuary. Passing from lush sub tropical lowlands, through high alpine valleys, up to the feet of the mountains themselves. The home to a large diversity of birdlife, ranging from Kingfishers, Dippers, and River Chat, through to the large soaring raptors overhead, including the Himalayan Griffon and the lammergeyer. A variety of species of butterfly can be seen along the route, displaying their myriad colours. More often heard than seen, the Muntjak or Barking deer, keep themselves hidden in the stands of trees, as the path climbs higher.

High Altitude Apple Pie.
The lower sections of the Annapurnas treks are often referred to as the Apple Pie trek, because in part it is relatively easy, and in part because of the availability of Apple pie at nearly every way-side stopping point. The absolute pleasure of a large slice of Apple pie, and a hot drink at the end of a days hard walk cannot be underestimated.

Outstanding mountain scenery, 360-degree mountain views, Bamboo forest, wildlife, cultivated fields and terraced hills, brilliant night sky.(weather permitting). A slice of Apple pie.
